Complete your range training with a Concealed Coalition state approved trainer. You must be able to demonstrate that you can safely and proficiently handle a handgun and ammunition.

Your Certificate of Competency has another line on it for the live fire instructor to sign. This is all you need to prove your training is complete.

Visit a Notary

You will need to get the completed application notarized before submitting your application.

Apply In Person

You will need to apply in person at the sheriff’s office in the county you reside. You will need the following:

– The completed, notarized application

– A copy of your Certificate with proof of live-fire

– One, 2×2 color photograph compliant with passport photo standards

– Your Driver’s License or Photo ID

– Payment of the $75 fee. (Form of payment may vary by county or office. We suggest you call ahead and inquire)

Background Check

Upon submission of your application, you will be investigated by the sheriff’s office based off the information you provided. If the Sheriff decides that you are approved, there will be an additional $25 dollar required of you, paid to the sheriff.

Check Your Mail

If approved, the Sheriff will send your certified application to the state police for them to issue the permit, and they will forward the $25 payment, and you will be notified within 45 days if you have been approved.
